Gabriel Garcia

After working twelve years in the Venezuelan Development Bank (BANDES), including four as a General Counsel, I decided that it was time for changes. So, my family and I moved from Venezuela to Wollongong, a beautiful and peaceful city in the south coast of New South Wales, Australia. There, I enrolled in a PhD program at the University of Wollongong, Faculty of Law.  I am researching on the consequences of market reforms sponsored by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the legal systems of developing countries through a comparative study of the Venezuelan and Malaysian legal banking systems. At the same time, I have been working as research assistant for the Centre for Comparative Law and Development Studies in Asia and the Pacific in legal areas related to Southeast Asian countries. 3/5/06
