International JD students are considered for all of the scholarships offered by the School of Law. We offer a slightly different application process to our international students for the need-based Alumni Scholarship.

Please note that as an international student, you do not qualify for federal loans, such as Federal Direct Stafford Loans, and therefore you do not need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Application Process

Submit the completed International Student Financial Aid Application by March 1 to be considered for scholarship aid. If you are unable to print the application from this web site, please email to request a copy.

Complete the parental section if you will be under 24 years of age by December 31. In order for BU Law to equitably distribute our scholarship funds, we require that applicants file parental information. Although many parents do not contribute to their children’s graduate education costs, they may still be a resource for some students. Thus, viewing the potential family contribution as a whole is the fairest and most accurate way to award need-based aid.

An applicant may submit a written, detailed request for a waiver of parental information prior to the March 1 filing deadline. Waivers are granted on a case-by-case basis, at the discretion of the Law Financial Aid Office. Requests should be addressed to the Director of Financial Aid.

Please keep in mind that our funds are limited and that even if we offer you a scholarship award, it may only pay for a portion of your tuition. Therefore, you may want to consider private scholarship resources and/or private educational loan sources for international students that can be used to pay for tuition, as well as living expenses during the school year.
