Project Citizenship Training: BU Law Pro Bono
- Starts: 4:30 pm on Thursday, August 13, 2020
- Ends: 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 13, 2020
Veronica Serrato, founding Executive Director of Project Citizenship will be conducting a virtual training to volunteer with Project Citizenship during August and September 2020. BU Law students Dani Hargus (BUSL '22) and Kayla Walker ('21) will also discuss their experiences and involvement with Project Citizenship. Completion of the training allows students to assist citizenship applicants with their applications and counts for the Pro Bono Pledge. RSVP here on Symplicity or email firstname.lastname@example.org to register. The Zoom link will be distributed to all registered students the day before the training. This training will be recorded for those who cannot attend and distributed to all RSVPs following the training. Each year, BU Law partners for Project Citizenship's annual Citizenship Day, usually held at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury in late September. This year, due to our remote nature and new Homeland Security guidelines which will eliminate naturalization fee waivers and raise application costs starting on October 2, 2020, Project Citizenship will mobilize volunteers to assist applicants with their citizenship applications from August 14 to September 17, 2020. A volunteer sign up form will follow the training. Multilingual individuals, especially Spanish, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, Mandarin and Cantonese speakers, are highly desired, but all law students are welcome to attend the training and volunteer.
