Susannah Heschel: Joy and Obligation (Leo Trepp Lecture)

The Elie Wiesel Center for Judaic Studies at Boston University is pleased to announce the first in a planned annual series of lectures named in honor of the late Leo Trepp (1913-2010), a widely known and revered German-American rabbi and philosopher, who while maintaining a traditional life of halakhic obligation was known for his joie de vivre. The Inaugural speaker is Professor Susannah Heschel (Dartmouth College), who will present “Joy and Obligation: The Legacies of Leo Trepp and A. J. Heschel,” as an homage to Leo Trepp. She will give a reconsideration of the work and path of a German and a Polish Jewish theologian who made their homes in America, shaping the way we see Judaism today. The lecture will be held at 5:00 p.m. on March 4, at the BU Hillel House (213 Bay State Road, Boston, MA 02215).
