Web Maker

A short course in designing and bulding a web site.

Introduction

The World Wide Web is latest and greatest way to send ideas around the world. This course shows you how to use Claris Home Page to create a Home Page that can be published on the Web. The course takes you step-by-step through the process of planning, designing, building, and publishing your own Web site.

How to build a web site.

There are six steps to building a web site:

1. Begin by coming up with a good idea: what is it that you want to tell people with this home page? A good idea is the first step.

2. Next, sketch out what your page will look like. Decide where the pictures and the text and the titles will be located.

3. Then prepare the pieces: write the text, draw the pictures, scan the images, on your computer, with programs like ClarisWorks.

4. Now open Claris Home Page and assemble your page. Import the elements, set their sizes, and move them around the page. Create additional pages; make links to other sites, and save your work.

5. Your site must be tested carefully. Using Netscape or other Web browser, open the pages you just made with Claris Home Page to see how they look.

6. You are ready to publish your page, on a local intranet, or on the world wide internet.

By following the detailed instructions in this course, you will learn all you need to develop a Home Page. The six steps must be done in order, and none can be skipped. You will need a computer with Claris Home Page version 2.0.

Along the way, you will be able to consult hints and tips that explain how to do some of the things you'll need to do.
