[Kaunda]:
.... “May we sit."
.....“Before anything, a song: [He sings] 'Step by step, step by step, I will follow Jesus, every day of my life, keeping step with Jesus.' [Mumbled] Amen.”
“Well. Mr. Ambassador, your dear wife, Mr. Chancellor, and all honorable and dear friends, before I say anything, let me just read to you, a few verses I wrote on my way coming here, two days ago. It is, I was reflecting over God’s power, and I wrote this: ‘His Power Over Us.’”
..........His power over us is real
..........His power over us is real
..........His power over us, heals
..........His power inside us, guides
..........That power inside us, leads,
..........From the beginning to the end,
..........That power: us, it daily protects,
..........From the beginning to the end,
..........That power: us, it daily unites,
..........Yes,
..........That power in us,
..........Everything required fulfills,
..........May this power all of us,
..........Yes indeed.
..........Stress all of us and live all the way fully blessed.
..........Amen.
.....[Mumbled] “hmm.”
.....“Dear sisters and brothers, how can I thank you, all, for this wonderful evening? Truly a welcome memorable, a welcome unforgettable. What more can one expect from friends, from sisters and brothers, people of all races, people of all shades of groupings, I’m grateful, grateful. I look forward to the type of, exercises, that we will be carrying on, or be carrying out, together, together. It is something that is designed to bring us closer, bring us closer because, where I don’t think only of oceans between us, distances between us, but it is the understanding, lack of understanding, of what we are, of what Africa is, of what America is, in terms of appreciating the good Lord when he says, ‘Love thy neighbor as thy self’ First of all he teaches, ‘Love God your creator, with all your heart, with all your soul, your mind and strength.’ That is not enough, without loving thy neighbor, as thyself. That neighbor again, I repeat, is not inscribed in terms of color, tribe, ethnic, what have you. He is one and only one that is our source. He teaches those commandments, two of them, many there are, but these two are principle. So as we come together here, to look at what we are going to be doing together, I want to say that may His power over us, His power over us, guide us, and lead us, into all the fields we need to carry out."
....."So I thank you all, who have come together, to prepare, this program. I’m sure He will guide us, He will lead us, He will unite us, success."
.....Thank you.”
[He turns his head. Applause. He walks off stage left]
