The American Society for Industrial Security is the professional association for security people. At first glance, it might not appear to be an organization of great interest to archaeologists, but several paragraphs in a recent membership appeal suggested that we might share some areas of concern. Thus, your editor invited Steven R. Keller, Director of the Department of Protection Services at the Art Institute of Chicago and Chairman of the A.S.I.S. Museum, Library and Archive Committe, to outline some of the current goals of that Committe for Journal of Field Archaeology readers. We hope that opening the lines of communication and cooperation with this, and the other organizations mentioned in these pages from time to time, may lead to increased effectiveness and benefits for all involved.
