The study of Italian prehistory illustrates some general problems of communication and interaction between individual brances of archaeology and between archaeology and its related disciplines. The collection of papers reviewed here brings later Italian prehistory closer to the mainstream of archaeology while emphasizing the particular interest of this area for the fruitful combination of historical traditions and archaeological evidence.
