In the past decade, the Calico site (SBCM 1500A) in southern California has presented a challenge to archaeologists of North America. If the fractured lithics from this site are tools, then man has inhabited this continent for a much greater period than previously recognized---possibly more than 50,000 years. By analyzing these lithics it should be possible to determine their true nature. This paper reports the results of statistical analysis of the lithics. The results indicate that man did not produce these lithics, but, rather, that they were created naturally.
