On the Computerization of Archaeological Projects

The use of computers in archaeological field projects offers many advantages, but successful implementation requires a great deal of planning. This article reviews some of the issues involved in designing a total computer system for such use, illustrated with components of a system currently in use in two Middle Paleolithic projects in France.
