Settlement Patterns and Land Use in Neothermal Dalmatia, Yugoslavia: 1983--1984 Seasons
Journal of Field Archaeology 14 (1987) 123--146

In this article, the research strategy and methodology underpinning the Neothermal Dalmatia Project are set out and the results of the 1983 and 1984 seasons fully described and discussed.

The Neothermal Dalmatia Project is based in the Zadar lowlands of Dalmatia, Yugoslavia. The aims of the project are to define and explain the main changes in environment, culture, economy, and social structure over the last 12 millennia. In this article, the archaeological settlement-pattern data are related to land-use classification of the areas surveyed and the results are interpreted in terms of long-term changes in economic and social behavior.
