The Firebreak Plow and Subsurface Site Discovery
Journal of Field Archaeology 26 (1999) 75--82

This paper discusses traditional archaeological field methods for discovering sites, the shovel probe and agricultural plow, and introduces the use of the firebreak plow as another method. A project in which the firebreak plow was used to discover archaeological sites is reviewed and a framework for evaluating the effectiveness of the plow is presented.
