ASP: A Simplified Computer Sampling Package for the Field Archaeologist
Journal of Field Archaeology 9 (1982) 136--140

The Archaeological Sampling Package (ASP) is a computer program series designed to generate simple random and stratified random samples while providing precise horizontal control without establishing a formal grid system. ASP has been tested in the field by Illinois State Museum personnel within narrow transportation corridors in Central Illinois, and it has proven to be a quick, reliable, and cost-effective method of implementing formalized sampling techniques in test situations. The program's operating procedures and field considerations are discussed.
