Fouad A. Ahmed
A Laser Scanning Plotter for Measurement of Archaeological Objects
Journal of Field Archaeology 10 (1983) 236--238

A laser ranging plotter capable of the direct determination of coordinates in three dimensions and the plotting of small and medium-size objects is developed. A collimated laser beam is used for orthogonal scanning of an object as well as for optical depth determination. The new plotter provides an accuracy of a portion of a millimeter and its application in archaeology and in the restoration of statuary art proved to be very useful.
