The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (CAS HI 393)

This fall, Prof. Abigail Jacobson is offering a topics course in Israeli history on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a course on conflicting narratives and aspirations. Prof. Abigail Jacobson is uniquely qualified to teach this kind of course. She received her PhD in History from the University of Chicago, where she wrote her PhD thesis on early 20th century Jerusalem between Ottoman and British mandatory rule under the guidance of Prof. Rashid Khalidi, now the Edward Said Chair in Middle East History at Columbia University. Abigail Jacobson is a trained mediator who has worked with Israeli and Palestinian youths and who has taught at various colleges and universities in Israel and the US. Most recently she served as a junior fellow at the Crowne Center for Middle East Studies at Brandeis University and as an Israel Studies fellow at the Elie Wiesel Center for Judaic Studies at BU.
