ITEC provides customized education, training, mentoring, networking, and other opportunities that help create sustainable enterprises to meet important global needs in sectors such as healthcare, clean energy and information systems.
ITEC resources are available to all Boston University students, faculty, staff and alumni. Events throughout the year include networking opportunities with fellow student and alumni entrepreneurs, a day-long course in how to create a business plan, and a business concept competition that allows students to receive feedback on their idea. Students across BU can register for entrepreneurship courses - with the professor's permission - on topics such as technology commercialization, feasibility analysis, launching a successful venture and building a company.
Mentoring assistance during each phase of the entrepreneurial process is available from ITEC faculty and volunteers from the community. The annual $50K Business Plan Competition provides participants with business plan advice, guidance on legal issues, and networking opportunities with local venture capital firms and business leaders.
For students and faculty seeking to commercialize research conducted at BU, ITEC works closely with the Office of Technology Development and together we offer a full complement of legal, financial and managerial resources to aspiring entrepreneurs. Through the eSPRIT program, students can, as part of their coursework, work with a company as a consultant to create a market opportunity plan, a business plan, or a funding proposal.
