Translating Challenges Into Solutions

The Boston University Clinical Innovation Awards Program is made possible by a grant from the Johnson & Johnson Corporate Office of Science and Technology (COSAT).  The Clinical Innovation Award Program at Boston University is designed to stimulate innovative solutions to unmet clinical challenges emerging from the Boston University medical Community.

How It Works

Who can apply:

Any practicing clinician providing care within the BU system.

When to apply:

The CIAP works on an open enrollment basis. You can apply any time and as often as you would like.

How to apply:

Apply by sending an email with the following information:

  • What is the most pressing unmet clinical need that will help you to improve the care of your patients with breakthrough medical technology?
  • Name and area of clinical specialty
  • Email, phone, and BU address

Review and Decision Process

Every applicant will be initially contacted by the First Response Team within two weeks of receiving your proposal. CIAP recipients will be notified within two months of application.

Award

Clinical Innovation Award Program recipients will be recognized at an annual event, invited to serve as clinical advisor to the project team, and provided an opportunity to help develop breakthrough medical technologies. While no cash awards will be provided to CIAP recipients, each selected project will be supported with an initial development grant up to $15,000.
