Dr. Jonathan Rosen, Executive Director
Dr. Rosen developed advanced medical technologies for cardiovascular, neurosurgical, and spinal surgery prior to becoming the executive director of ITEC. He served as Chief Technology Officer for the Codman & Surtleff Surgical Division of Johnson & Johnson. His entrepreneurial experience includes the founding of medical technology companies in the US and internationally. He served as director of the CIMIT Office of Technology Implementation, where he helped establish collaborative research teams and support translational research programs in biomaterials, tissue engineering, optical diagnostics, orthopedics, trauma and critical care. He continues to serve as senior advisor to CIMIT, is the principal investigator for the CIMIT global health program, and is a founding board member of the Institute for Pediatric Innovation. Jonathan received his PhD in Biomaterials and Bioengineering from Case Western Reserve University and his MBA in Strategic Planning from Columbia University.

Paul McManus, Director, International Programs
Mr. McManus has nearly 30 years of experience in building, leading, advising and investing in high-growth ventures within the high technology and venture capital industries. In addition to teaching MBA and executive programs at the School of Management, he lectures internationally on innovation, entrepreneurship and new venture development and is a member of the Academic Advisory Board for the University of Oslo's Masters Programme in Entrepreneurial Management. Paul also consults to large multi-nationals, early stage startups and national governments to help them identify new growth opportunities and rapidly create strategies to capitalize on those opportunities. In addition, he is an advisor to several startup companies, venture capital firms and is a Venture Partner with Boston Millennia Partners, a $750M venture capital fund. Paul has a BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology and an MBA from the Boston University School of Management.

Peter R. Russo, Director, Entrepreneurship Programs
Mr. Russo is an Executive-in-Residence who teaches Entrepreneurship and Strategy at the Boston University School of Management. He is the Director of Entrepreneurship Programs for the Institute for Technology Entrepreneurship & Commercialization (ITEC). Peter teaches courses at the MBA, Executive and Undergraduate level, is responsible for the School's Entrepreneurship curriculum (both degree and non-degree) and serves as faculty advisor to the students concentrating in Entrepreneurship at the Graduate and Undergraduate level. Prior to joining the faculty at BU, Peter served as the CEO of Data Instruments, (currently Honeywell Data Instruments). He currently serves on the Boards of Advisors and/or Boards of Directors for a number of commercial and not-for-profit organizations and has a BS in accounting and an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was elected a Baker Scholar. |

Dr. Ashley Stevens, Director, Research Programs
In addition to overseeing all research programs for ITEC and teaching a graduate level, inter-disciplinary course on Technology Commercialization, Dr. Stevens has been Director of the Office of Technology Transfer since 1995. Since he joined Boston University, the Office of Technology Transfer has spun out over 40 companies based on the University's research. Before joining Boston University, he was Director of the Office of Technology Transfer at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a teaching affiliate of the Harvard Medical School. Prior to entering the technology transfer provision, Ashley worked in the biotechnology industry and founded several companies including Kytogenics, Inc and Genmap, Inc. He started his career with the Procter & Gamble Company and holds a BA in Natural Sciences and an MA PhD in Physical Chemistry from Oxford University. |

Vinit Nijhawan, Lecturer and Executive-in-Residence
Mr. Nijhawan has more than 20 years of experience building four startups. He was CEO of two, three were acquired, and the fourth now employs over 400 people. Recently, he spent two years as a Venture Partner at Key Venture Partners, where he sourced over 200 deals and made one investment. Mr. Nijhawan is an advisor and board member to several technology startups and was a Mass High Tech All-Star in 2005. He has participated in more than 100 panel discussions and paper presentations, and is Chairman of TiE-Boston and a Board of Trustee member of TiE Global, a non-profit that fosters entrepreneurship globally. Mr. Nijhawan earned a B.A.Sc in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. |

Beth Goldstein, Associate Director, Communications
Ms. Goldstein runs BU's Annual $50K Business Plan Competition and teaches entrepreneurial sales and marketing at the School of Management. She is the Faculty Director for BU's Online Certificate in Entrepreneurship program and is the Instructor for the InnerCity Entrepreneurs business growth program in Central Mass. Beth has more than 22 years of sales, marketing, and business development experience, runs her own marketing consulting firm and is the author of the book, The Ultimate Small Business Marketing Toolkit. Beth has a BA in economics and sociology from Brandeis University and an MBA from the Boston University School of Management. |

Carol Hoopes, Associate Director, Planning & Program Development
Ms. Hoopes is responsible for the development and implementation of ITEC program initiatives. She has extensive experience in leadership and executive development and has served as Director of the BU Leadership Institute helping executives develop strategies, approaches and capabilities to succeed in the new economy. Carol was also the Associate Director of BU's Institute for Leading in a Dynamic Economy (BUILDE) whose purpose is to explore the effects of emerging information and related technologies on competitive markets and organizations. Prior to her work in leadership and executive development, Carol held several senior management positions at the Harvard Community Health Plan, the nation's first academic health maintenance organization. |

Catherine Santore, Assistant Director, Operations
Ms. Santore manages the ITEC website, communications and events, and creates multimedia to showcase ITEC programs and alumni. She is a 2009 MBA candidate from the Boston University School of Management and has a BA in French and Russian from Dickinson College. After college, Catherine went to Russia on a Fulbright award, where she stayed for four years working as freelance editor and communications consultant. Catherine traveled across nine of Russia's time zones, from Karelia to Kamchatka, and visited six former republics. After returning to the US, she worked as Production Manager of BU Today, the University's online news website, and Communications Manager for BU's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. |

Dr. Clifford Robinson, ITEC Senior Advisor and Director of the BU Business Incubation Program
Dr. Robinson has more than 25 years of senior level operational experience in technology commercialization and business development gained at four major fortune 500 companies and from working with numerous, early stage, venture capital funded companies. His experience spans the semiconductor, computer, defense, chemical engineering and photonics industries. He has consulted to the governments of France, Canada, U.K., private industry, venture capital and served the National Science Foundation to select universities for federal funding. He is an invited participant and advisor in the angel investment community and is a member of the Board of Directors of Barr Associates. He has incubated more than fifteen companies including FiberGrade, acquired by Agilent in 2006, and Solx, acquired by Occulogix in 2006. Dr. Robinson has a Ph.D. in physics from Cambridge University, U.K., and an MBA from Boston University. |

Mark Allan, Health Science & Delivery
Mr. Allan is Faculty Director of the Health Sector Management Program at the School of Management, and also a member of the faculty of the School of Medicine, with an appointment through the Department of Family Medicine. He has a long history of senior management positions in health and human service organizations, and has acted as a consultant in a variety of settings. He was Executive Director of BMC HealthNet Plan, a statewide pre-paid health plan, and CEO of several community-based health care and service delivery organizations. His consulting practice has involved work with hospital systems, health plans, and community health centers. He holds an MBA in both Health Care Management and Public Management from the Boston University School of Management. He received his MSW from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his BA from Columbia College at Columbia University.
Nitin Joglekar, Clean & Alternative Energy
In addition to his role as sector leader, Dr. Joglekar is an associate professor of operations and technology management at the School of Management. His interests span distributed product innovation and technology commercialization/valuation challenges at established and entrepreneurial firms: assessment of business models and market opportunities/risks; project, portfolio and pipeline management; organizational learning and innovation leadership; technology adoption and unintended consequences of opportunistic behaviors from a systems thinking perspective. He is an associate editor of Management Science and senior editor of Production & Operations Management. Joglekar holds a BA from Indian Institute of Technology, an MA in engineering from MIT and Memorial University (Canada), and a PhD in management science from the MIT Sloan School.
John Henderson, Information Systems & Technology
Dr. Henderson is the Richard C. Shipley Professor of Management at School of Management. He also serves as the Director of the BU Institute for Leading in a Dynamic Economy (BUILDE). He is a noted researcher, consultant and executive educator with published papers appearing in journals such as Management Science, Sloan Management Review, MIS Quarterly, IBM Systems Journal, and European Management Journal. John is the co-author of The Knowledge Engine, which explores how effective leaders leverage the firm's knowledge assets. John's current research focuses on three main areas: wireless networks and the economics of business platforms, managing strategic partnerships, and aligning business and IT strategies. He serves as a member of BP's Digital & Communications Technology Advisory Group and the board of Directors for ICEX. John received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.
