NCAA
Special Assistance Fund
Request for ISSO Letter of Support
International
student athletes applying for financial assistance from the NCAA
must obtain a letter of support from their international student
advisor. To request the letter, please submit the following documentation
to the ISSO in person:
-
A letter from the coach of your team which verifies that you are
a member of the team; and which describes how the requested funds
will be used.
-
A letter from your parents or your financial sponsor explaining
why they cannot assist you in funding this particular need.
Bring
these two letters, along with your immigration documents (passport,
I-94 card, I-20 or DS-2019, etc.) to the ISSO. You will be asked
to fill out a Request Form. Please allow five business days for
the letter to be issued to you.
NOTE:
The NCAA will
allow these funds to be used only for certain activities and items.
The ISSO is not in a position to determine whether or not your request
complies with NCAA guidelines and rules. It is your responsibility
to work with your coach and the Boston University Athletics Department
Compliance Coordinator to decide if your request is appropriate.
