As Assistant Director of Student Services, Ryan manages and supervises the immigration processing, advising, and related outreach services provided by the Undergraduate International Student Advising team to more than 3,500 nonimmigrant BU international students. He serves as a member of the leadership team of the International Students & Scholars Office and contributes to the overall management of the office.

Prior to joining BU Global Programs, he worked as a science teacher at the International High School in Lawrence, Massachusetts and as a placement manager for international scholars at Laspau, a non-profit organization affiliated with Harvard University.

Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Education in High School Biology from Lesley University, and a Ph.D. in Ecology from Imperial College London.

He also completed an undergraduate study abroad program in Tropical Biology in Costa Rica. He enjoys hiking and backpacking, cycling, and playing board games.
