Introduction of New Scholar Forms and Invitation
to Department Administrator Training Sessions
Dear Department Administrators,
The ISSO is very pleased to announce that we have added
substantial content to the "Administrators" section
of our web site relating to sponsorship of international
scholars (i.e., visitors, non-paid scholars, and international
employees). You will now find a detailed overview of Boston
University sponsorship policies for all available immigration
classifications, as well as a summary of steps for processing
each, including our new Department Checklist for International
Scholar Processing. The forms can be completed (i.e. filled
in) on your computer and then printed for signature and submission.
For those of you who make requests for J visa-related documentation,
we would like to draw your attention to the J Exchange Visitor
Overview that includes new, more pragmatic minimum funding
requirements for J scholars and their dependents.
Requests received at the ISSO on or after May 1, 2004 should
be on the new forms and, for J requests, should include funding
documentation that meets the new minimums.
We are also pleased to invite you to attend one of two scheduled Department
Administrator Training Sessions to meet our scholar
advising team; to learn about our new processing forms; and
to review the various visa classifications, the sponsorship
policies for each and how we decide which is most appropriate
for your scholars. The sessions will be held as follows:
====================
FRIDAY, APRIL 23, 2004
Charles River Campus
====================
9:00 - 11:00am
The Photonics Center, Room 203
8 St. Mary's Street
======================
TUESDAY, APRIL 27, 2004
Medical Campus
======================
9:00 - 11:00am
Building L, Room 112
80 E. Concord Street
We look forward to seeing you at one of these sessions and
to answering any questions you might have about inviting
international scholars to your department.
