Semester Verification

Continuing International Students in F-1 Immigration Status

Procedures

1. Log onto the "Faculty/Staff" Link on BU Web Page - Using Kerberos password and UIS SecurID.
   
   
2. Click on "International Student Semester Verification".
   
   
3. Type in student"s BU ID number (or student"s name).
(If you are unable to access the record, send the student to see an ISSO Advisor).


4. Verify student"s identity by checking picture on screen.
   (If the picture on the screen does not match the student, send the student to see an ISSO Advisor).
   
   
5. Inform student of any warnings or instructions (if applicable).
   
   
6. Click on "Complete Verification" button.
   
   
7. Wait for confirmation that "Semester Verification" has been completed.
   
   
8. Click on "new person" in upper right corner of screen to verify next student.

Generally, there should be no warning messages, therefore, "semester verification" should proceed quickly. However, a few possible "warning messages" may appear on the screen when conducting semester verification that could warn the student about a potential problem with their registration or immigration status. In some circumstances, a message may appear indicating that the student may be prohibited from completing the "semester verification". In all of these cases, the student should be encouraged to contact his/her ISSO advisor with any questions.

The following "warning" messages may appear indicating that the student is not required to complete "Semester Verification" for this semester:

1. Semester Verification for [Semester][Year] already completed on mm/dd/yyyy.
2. NO Semester Verification is necessary for this student at this time.

1. Warning to student! [Semester][Year] Student not yet registered for semester.
2. Warning to student! [Semester][Year] Student only registered for Part-time load. Student must register for full-time load or see ISSO advisor.
3. Warning to student! [Semester][Year] Student needs to see Student Accounting Office.

1. Try again later. [Semester][Year] Semester Verification CANNOT be completed at this time. Semester Verification will begin 2 weeks prior to semester.
2. See ISSO advisor. Student is not on the IP-SEVIS-PERSON file.
3. See ISSO Advisor. Semester Verification CANNOT be completed at this time. Student never completed Initial ISSO Check-in.
4. See ISSO advisor. [Semester][Year] Semester Verification CANNOT be completed at this time. Student has ISSO hold on record.
5. See ISSO advisor. [Semester][Year] Semester Verification CANNOT be completed at this time. Semester Verification deadline has passed.
6. See ISSO advisor. [Semester][Year] Semester Verification CANNOT be completed at this time. Student is not eligible to register.
7. See ISSO advisor. [Semester][Year] Semester Verification CANNOT be completed at this time. Semester record does not exist for student.

1. Call Link support. Semester Verification CANNOT be completed at this time. No Verification Semester was found for the student.
2. Call Link support. Semester Verification CANNOT be completed at this time. No Verification Semester was found.
3. Call Link support. Semester Verification CANNOT be completed at this time. No record on sa-personal file.
