The ISSO Welcomes New International Scholar Advisor

The ISSO Scholar Services team is pleased to welcome Margaret Wheeler, as a new International Scholar Advisor. Margaret joined Boston University in January 2011, after several years working as an immigration attorney for the University of North Carolina. She holds a BA in Russian and Spanish Languages and Literatures from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and has studied abroad in both Madrid and Sevilla, Spain, as well as in Russia. She also holds an MA in Dance from Mills College in Oakland, CA as well as a J.D. from New England School of Law. She can be reached at mawheele@bu.edu.

Effective immediately, Margaret will be the key ISSO contact for scholars on the Charles River Campus. Her principal responsibilities will be assisting Charles River departments in hosting and hiring foreign national scholars and advising international scholars in J-1 and TN status on issues related to immigration status, benefits, employment and travel.

Olivia Whitman will continue serve as the key ISSO contact for scholars and BU departments on the Medical Campus, including heading up the ISSO’s Thursday morning walk-in services and orientation program offered at the Medical Campus.
