Summer Processing Season – Please Think Ahead

With all this cold weather, it is nice to look ahead to the summer.  And while looking forward to warmer weather may be nice, there are also other things to consider for summer.  Similar to many academic departments, summer is a very busy time for the ISSO’s Scholar Team.  Many new faculty and researchers are hired at this time of year.   While we routinely request advance notice from departments that are hiring international researchers or faculty, it is even more crucial at this busy time of year.

In order to ensure that all new faculty and researchers hired during this busy period can have their visa work processed to allow them to arrive at Boston University as desired by the hiring department, we ask that you provide us with ample lead time.  While we understand that this may not always be possible, we ask that you make every effort to contact your Scholar Advisor (see below) at least six months before the desired start date to discuss the necessary steps and paperwork. In addition, please remember to follow the normal hiring procedures for your college and for the type of position requested, as the ISSO cannot process any visa paperwork until all standard hiring steps have been completed.

Please direct your international employment and sponsorship questions to the ISSO scholar services team as follows:
