About
The ISSO endeavors to
enhance the international character of Boston University by providing
essential services and support to students, faculty, and staff.
In an effort to ensure student, scholar and institutional compliance
with federal regulations, we provide professional expertise on immigration
and employment issues. As advocates for international exchange,
we promote the academic, professional and personal growth of this
diverse community while cultivating an appreciation of its many
contributions. The ISSO
reports to the Vice President and Associate Provost for Global Programs and works closely with the Office of Global Programs and other academic and administrative units at Boston University.

Visa and Immigration Services
- Maintenance of lawful immigration status
- Assist with processing to:
- Travel outside and return to the U. S.
- Work on campus
- Drop below a full course or study
- Withdraw from school
- Extend time limit for completion of study
- Change major field of study
- Change academic level
- Transfer to or from another school
- Assist with Immigration authorization to:
- Work off campus
- Change immigration status
- Work after graduation
- Maintenance, renewal and replacement of passport, visa,
I-20, DS-2019
