Undergraduate Studies

The Department of International Relations at Boston University offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations as well as Bachelor of Arts degrees in East Asian Studies, Latin American Studies, and East European Studies, through the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS). International Relations is the most popular undergraduate major in CAS. The department attracts many students who complete double majors or minors in IR and related majors such as political science, economics, or foreign languages. The multidisciplinary requirements allow students to integrate these other majors and minors into their IR curricula without requiring extra semesters of study.

Participating departments within CAS include the departments of Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Modern Foreign Languages, Political Science, Religion, and Sociology. Additionally, the Center for Energy and Environmental Studies, the College of Communication, and the School of Management participate in our program. This comprehensive involvement by various disciplines engages the extensive resources of Boston University, permits flexibility, and offers a breadth of courses unusual in an international relations program.
