The Center periodically hosts conferences on topics germane to international relations. Past conferences have included the Mil-to-Mil: Assessing U.S. National Security Cooperation Strategies conference and the U.S. Counter narcotics Strategy and the Colombian Crisis conference.
Past Conferences:
Mil-to-Mil: Assessing
U. S. National Security Cooperation Strategies
(November 13-14, 2002) The purpose of the conference was to evaluate
the efficacy of U. S. sponsored military-to-military relationships
with Latin American armies. In particular, we were interested in
evaluating the claim that military-to-military interaction results
in the transfer of values such as military professionalism and respect
for democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
U. S. Counter narcotics Strategy and the Colombian Crisis
(November 1-2, 2001) A two-day conference to assess the origins
and evolution of the Colombian civil war and, more specifically,
to use the Colombian case to evaluate U. S efforts aimed at reducing
the production, importation, and use of illegal drugs.
