Fall Semester: August 17th to December 18th, 2009
Spring Semester: February 8th to July 24th, 2010
Academic Year: August 17th, 2009 to Mid-December, 2010

Dresden, the city known as the "Florence on the Elbe," is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for its eighteenth and nineteenth century cultural landscape. It is both a verdant and picturesque European city along with being a modern symbol of German reunification.

This program is designed for students who wish to enroll directly in a German university, and who want to take advantage of the wide range of university courses offered by Technische Universität Dresden. The University Studies Program gives students a great opportunity to get an insight into the academic culture in Germany, to improve their language proficiency in German as well as to study and live among German and international students. During the first weeks of the program (prior to the start of the TUD semester), students enroll in a four-credit intensive language and cultural immersion course. Students then enroll in three elective courses at the TUD and finish the semester as regular students of the University. Upon successful completion of a semester, students earn 16 to 20 Boston University credits. For additional information on-site, please visit: www.bu-dresden.de.

Host Institution

Technische Universität Dresden (TUD)
The Technische Universität Dresden is one of the oldest and most prestigious technical universities in Germany. Its name now only partially describes its mission, however. Since German reunification, the TUD has doubled in size by incorporating a full array of humanities, social sciences, and "pure" science departments as well. Please visit www.tu-dresden.de for more information.
