The Paris Internship Program offers a semester of study and work in the hub of French and European
business and culture. The program combines an internship with intensive
French-language study and liberal arts courses. And based on their language proficiency, students are placed into one of the two tracks. French faculty from local
universities teach courses on contemporary France that are specifically
designed for students in the Boston University program. Upon successful
completion of a semester students earn 16 Boston University credits.
The First Eight Weeks (Core Phase)
After an orientation period,
students enroll in three courses and begin the internship placement process.
Depending on their linguistic proficiency, students are placed into one
of two sequences: one language course and two electives, or two language
courses and one elective.
The Final Eight Weeks (Placement Phase)
During the second half of
the semester, students participate in local professional life through
faculty-supervised internships. Students serve as interns full time,
Monday through Friday, while also attending small group and individual
writing tutorials which monitor progress in the internship and the drafting
of an extensive analytical internship report. An oral defense of the
report completes the semester's requirements.
