A Real Program for Scientists, at Last
For a few years now we’ve seen increasing interest among science students—pre-meds and others—in serious science programs abroad. This semester, for the first time, we’re launching a dedicated program for science students, the Dresden Science Program at the Technical University of Dresden (TUD). We have 15 students for the inaugural semester.
This is a special kind of program, modeled on our successful Dresden Engineering Program. Offered fall semester, it is aimed at younger students (typically first semester sophomores) who are still at the level of a more general science curriculum. There is no prior language requirement for admission, and science courses are taught in English by TUD faculty members, but students are required to study German language, which they can do at any level.
Courses include Organic Chemistry I, Cell Biology, Basic Statistics and Probability, and the Sociology of Culture. Students live in university residence halls and enjoy full student privileges at TUD, as well as the full support of BU’s Dresden office and staff.
TU Dresden Cited for Excellence in Bioengineering and Biomedicine
The Technical University of Dresden, host to Boston University's Dresden science and engineering programs, was recently cited by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany for excellence in the fields of bioengineering and biomedicine—the only university in Germany to receive this highly competitive honor in both fields.
