For Boston University faculty only.

Boston University faculty members are invited to apply each summer for the Faculty Exchange Program between Boston University and Università degli Studi di Padova. Boston University’s agreement with the Università provides for as many as three faculty exchanges per year. Each exchange is for a period of one month maximum and two weeks minimum.

Faculty from Boston University who wish to apply should be prepared to reside at the Università during May-July, when the Università is still in session. Boston University provides round-trip travel to Padova; the Università provides university lodging plus a per diem allowance for meals. The accommodations are modest, and the allowance will not cover all the expenses of a one-month stay in Italy.

All full-time Boston University faculty members are eligible. To apply, please submit by Friday, February 19, 2010:

  • A two page proposal on a topic relevant to the research currently pursued by faculty members at the Università or connected with the special resources of that scholarly community. Successful proposals will describe projects which can be accomplished within the available time and which will make productive use of the opportunity to work with students and scholars at the Università and Boston University’s Centro Studi.

  • A curriculum vitae of no more than four pages.

Faculty members selected for the exchange will be asked to meet with the resident director and students of the Boston University, Padova Language and Liberals Arts Program. In addition, selected faculty will be asked to submit a brief report to the associate provost for international education, summarizing the main aspects of their work in Padova. Candidates will be notified of the final selection by March 1 or shortly thereafter.
