Pardee Graduate Summer Fellows Meet with IOC

Pardee Graduate Summer Fellows Meet with IOC

Initiative on Cities Co-Director Tom Menino hosted the Pardee Graduate Summer Fellows for lunch on Wednesday July 16, where conversation centered on the Fellows’ diverse summer projects at the Pardee Center.

The former Mayor of Boston heard from each of the Summer Fellows about their research, with topics ranging from food and the informal economy in Maputo, Mozambique, and mapping technology in urban China to deforestation in southern Asia and the environmental impact of Europe’s livestock industry. Public health and sustainability emerged as common themes, aligning closely with Menino’s focus on public service and innovative policies in government.

Also participating in the lunch and discussion included Pardee Center Director Anthony Janetos and Associate Director Cynthia Barakatt, and IoC Executive Director Katharine Lusk and Administrative Coordinator Conor LeBlanc.

The Fellows are producing research papers, due on Aug. 1, which will be considered for publication in one of the Pardee Center’s publication series.
