Innovate@BU to Take Over Greenhorn Connect Website

The Capital Network and Boston University’s Innovate@BU initiative are thrilled to announce that beginning in March Innovate@BU will commence management of Greenhorn Connect, including its website, weekly newsletter, and social media channels.

Established by students in 2009 and then taken over by The Capital Network in 2014, during the past 10 years, Greenhorn Connect has grown as a robust digital resource for entrepreneurs in the Greater Boston Area. It has hosted student entrepreneur dinners, conferences and events to foster cross-university collaborations and its Community Calendar has featured thousands of networking events, workshops, accelerator applications, and conferences.

Now, The Capital Network is handing the care of Greenhorn Connect to Innovate@BU to bring the focus back to students and help them navigate the startup world outside their campus.

“The Capital Network (TCN) is delighted that Innovate@BU has agreed to take over Greenhorn Connect. With the growth of resources and the ecosystem in the past few years, we believe there is still a piece missing when it comes to helping students access the wider ecosystem. Having Greenhorn Connect run by students and for students will enable them to confidently transition from campus to the greater Boston startup community,” said Marie Meslin, Executive Director at The Capital Network. “It can help students continue to thrive – and stay – in our ecosystem after graduation.”

Launched in February 2018, Innovate@BU was established to enable Boston University students to become drivers of innovation in their own lives, careers, and communities.

“We are pleased to be able to take over stewardship of Greenhorn Connect,” said Ian Mashiter, Managing Director at Innovate@BU, “We [Innovate@BU] are committed to being an active and responsible member of the Boston entrepreneurial ecosystem. With that in mind, we aim to sharpen the focus of Greenhorn Connect by providing information, resources, and events for college students and recent alumni in the Greater Boston Area. We believe this exposure to all the eco-system has to offer will help the next generation stay in Boston and build great companies.”

Boston University senior Hara Gkarramone will serve as editor of Greenhorn Connect through May 2019.
