Our Mission
The Institute for Nonprofit Management and Leadership (INML) educates, connects, and supports the next generation of nonprofit leaders.

Our History
The Institute was founded in 2007 by Executive Director Barry Dym. The founding class of INML’s Core Certificate Program graduated 14 students.

In 2008, the program moved to Boston University’s Executive Leadership Center, housed within Boston University School of Management. Kristen McCormack, an Executive-in-Residence with the School of Management, joined the Institute as Faculty Director.

In response to a growing demand for leadership education in the Merrimack Valley, INML opened a second satellite program site in Lowell, Mass in 2009. This site educates 20 leaders each year.

Now in its eighth year of operation, INML’s Core Certificate Program graduated 95 students in 2014.

As the demand for certificate programs increased, INML developed additional programs and alumni services. In 2011, the Institute developed the Board Leadership Seminar, and in 2012, the Institute launched the Community Fellows Program.

In 2014 INML hired its first Chief Operating Officer, Yolanda Coentro.

In the fall of 2014, INML will pilot the Community Leadership Program in Lowell.
