Description

The Role and Responsibility of a Great University to Address the Critical Global Issues of Our Time.

On the occasion of the inauguration of Dr. Robert A. Brown as our tenth president, we celebrate Boston University’s legacy and reflect upon the role and responsibility of the University to address the great global issues of our time — through education, research, outreach, and service. Issues to be explored include: What are the most critical issues today, and how can the University contribute to solutions?  How does the University best teach the values of a global perspective to its students? How should the University collaborate with the international community of scholars? How does the University preserve academic freedom and resist political pressure from within and without?
