Opening Presentation Video & Slides at the Spring 2013 Institute for Iraqi Studies Spring Workshop.
The Syrian Refugee Crisis and Lessons from the Iraqi Refugee Experience
This presentation was part of the Spring 2013 Institute for Iraqi Studies Workshop: The Syrian Refugee Crisis and Lessons from the Iraqi Experience, held at Boston University on March 29, 2013. During the workshop, participants compared the two refugee crises, looking to draw upon lessons from the Iraqi experience.
“An Overview of the Syrian Refugee Crisis,” presented the stark numbers and realities of the current crisis in that nation torn apart by over two years of civil war. Ms. Vicky Kelberer (International Relations, Boston University) presented the current figures to the workshop participants and set the tone of the day’s discussion. The workshop and presentation is introduced by IIS Director and Professor of International Relations, A. Richard Norton.
