Contract position: mHealth Project Coordinator for maternal health in Cape Town, South Africa

Cell-Life is looking for an mHealth Project Coordinator, based at its offices in Cape Town. mHealth is the use of mobile technologies like cellphones in healthcare. The position will involve running Cell-Life’s maternal-health work, and undertaking other mhealth projects.

 Areas of work will include:

  • Project planning and reporting
  • Conceptualising, costing and setting up new mhealth services
  • Writing content
  • Piloting and evaluating mhealth services
    • Partnership development, including with other NGOs and government.

The position requires a range of skills and experience:

  • Project planning and management (in cooperation with the Project Manager)
  • Writing, particularly public health messaging
  • Costing and tracking
  • Getting user feedback
  • Developing relationships
    • Familiarity and comfort with technology, preferably mobile.

A relevant first degree is required. We would ideally like a Masters of Public Health graduate with over 5 years’ work experience, though a self-starter with solid project management experience and writing skills could also be suitable.

The mhealth services created will use a range of platforms/technologies including SMS, USSD, voice, WAP and MXit.

The position will report to Cell-Life’s mHealth Project Manager. The contract will be for a year, with the option of renewing.
