NERI project

"The Institute for Geriatric Social Work (IGSW) has partnered with the New England Research Institutes (NERI) to create a training program, the Working with Older Adults Program, comprised of a series of short videos accompanied by a Trainers Guide. The program takes an evidence-based, client-centered approach to working with older adults. The content of the videos addresses core competencies that can be applied across a range of practice settings (hospitals, community health centers, home health care, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, senior centers, and independent living) in urban and rural areas. The training program is designed for in-person delivery and is intended to complement on-the-job training in hospitals and community agencies, in the classroom, in workshops at conferences, or in online training courses. In 2009-2010, IGSW and NERI are conducting a randomized controlled trial to evaluate the effectiveness of the training videos. The complete set of training materials (including videos and Trainers Guide) will be available for commercial release in the summer of 2010."
