There is a critical need for research that documents the effectiveness of geriatric social work practice and interventions.  To establish a rationale for reimbursement for geriatric social work practice within Medicare and Medicaid as well as other publicelderly woman at therapy and private payers, IGSW supports research initiatives that promote the use of evidence-based practice interventions in social work.   In addition, IGSW is conducting a randomized clinical trial in a health care setting to demonstrate the effectiveness of targeted geriatric social work interventions. State-of-the-Science meetings will be held to refine research designs, review research findings, and identify appropriate interventions to study.
