Policy and Dissemination

A core objective of IGSW is to influence policy-makers to expand practice and reimbursement options for geriatric social work practice. Four friendsIGSW conducts a variety of policy development and analysis activities, as well as disseminates findings from research and its education and training efforts.

The overall goals of IGSW ’s policy and dissemination activities are:

  • to serve as a source of balanced information and commentary on geriatric social work, addressing topics such as evidence-based practice, work force trends, and the quality of continuing professional education for practicing social workers
  • to work collaboratively with social work education programs, local and national social work and social service organizations, and public policy makers
  • to actively engage policy makers to improve reimbursement, practice and employment opportunities for geriatric social workers.
