After
I enroll in the program, how do I start my first course?
Once
you enroll in the IGSW online Certificate
in Aging program and pay the $500 enrollment
fee, your account will say “Paid” next to the “IGSW
Online Certificate in Aging Program” folder icon. When
clicking on this icon, a list of your core courses and
chosen electives will automatically appear. To start
your first course, click on the course title.
Do
I have to take the courses in a specific order?
It
is recommended that you take the Basic Issues in Aging
course first, followed by the other required courses.
However, you may complete your courses in any order
that you wish.
How
long does it take to complete the IGSW Certificate
in Aging?
Most
courses take an average of three to five hours to complete.
Each course is entirely self-paced, so you can pick
a pace which works with your learning style and schedule.
Some students may prefer to finish a single course in
one sitting, while others may prefer to complete a course
over a period of sessions. The total amount of time
that it takes to complete the certificate program will
vary from person to person, however, you have up to
one year from your enrollment date to complete all of
your coursework.
Can
I take one course before enrolling the certificate program?
Yes.
You can take up to four courses that are applicable
to the certificate program. Applicable
courses include: Basic Issues in Aging, A Guide to the
Aging Network, Geriatric Assessment, Mental Health and
Aging Issues, and three electives of your choice.
Once
I finish my coursework, when do I receive my Certificate
in Aging from IGSW?
After
you complete the seven courses, you will receive your
Certificate in Aging in
the mail within six to eight weeks. In addition, you
will be able to print individual course certificates
of completion as you finish each course.
Will
I get CEUs?
Licensed
social workers are eligible for a total of 26 to 29
CEUs (depending on which elective courses you take).
Rather than awarding them all at once, three to five
CEUs are awarded after finishing each course.
