Introduction of International Educational Development Program

An intensive 40-credit program for professionals in many disciplines who are designing, implementing, or evaluating programs for local, regional, or national development. Students develop a broad understanding of education and training; insight into political, social, cultural, and organizational dynamics; and analytical and planning skills essential to leadership in educational change, especially in developing nations. Ordinarily, students begin in September and complete the program with the defense of a master's thesis 16 months later, taking a core curriculum that examines various perspectives (cultural, political, economic, epistemological, pedagogical) on education for development as well as an internship in an agency or institution.

SED IE 601 Analysis of Educational Policies and Practices for Development
SED IE 602 Practicum and Seminar: The Practice of Education for Development
SED IE 603 Project Analysis and Planning for Educational Development
SED IE 604 Project Seminar: Current Educational Development Issues
SED RS 600 Perspectives on Inquiry and
12 credits from anywhere in the University in the student's field of specialization.
