Holiday & Intersession Schedule
Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to announce our Holiday and Intersession schedule for the period September 2008 through August 2009.
For the thirty-fifth consecutive year, Boston University will observe an Intersession closing between Christmas and New Year’s Day, which will permit most employees the opportunity to spend more time with their families and friends during the holiday season.
Regular employees not covered by collective bargaining agreements will receive time off at their regular rate of pay during the Intersession. Employees who are required to work and to perform essential services will receive compensatory time off at a later time. Represented employees’ time off and pay for Holidays and the Intersession are governed by their collective bargaining agreements.
On the reverse side of this letter, you will find a complete list of University holidays and intersession days through Independence Day, 2009. The total number of holidays and intersession days is eighteen, significantly more than most Boston area employers provide.
If you have any questions regarding this schedule, please contact your Employee Relations Representative in Human Resources.
Yours sincerely,

Robert A. Brown
