Choose to Manage

A program designed for front-line, new managers and managers who never participated in a management development program at BU

This comprehensive program provides managers the tools, skills, knowledge, and processes to be an effective manager.

Program Goals

  • Share key content to support managers in developing good people management skills
  • Create awareness of policies, procedures, employment laws and best practices
  • Provide exposure to resources available to managers and their employees
  • Support managers in building their networks through opportunities to learn from subject matter experts, peers and share experiences

Learning Modules

The program consists of a virtual kick-off meeting and three in-class modules, which includes 2 full day sessions and 1 half day. There are 22 hours of live session time including the kick-off, and approximately 5 hours of pre-work. Participants are required to attend all three of the following modules in order to graduate from the program:

  • The Role of the Manager, DiSC and Delegation
  • Hiring the Best, Performance Management and Policies
  • Conflict & Difficult Conversations and Motivating Others
