Human Resources comprises seven sections: Benefits, Employment & Training, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, Compensation, Records, and Systems. Each section is dedicated to ensuring that all employees are well informed about the resources available to them.

Benefits

Employment & Training
The Employment & Training group is dedicated to recruiting and hiring clerical, custodial, administrative and professional staff for departmental positions. It is also responsible for developing and maintaining the training program curriculum, which is designed to foster employee growth and development. Employee Relations
Employee Relations provides guidance and assistance to management and staff in the interpretation and administration of University policies and union contracts and provides guidance in resolving work-related issues. Employee Relations Representatives serve as human resources consultants to the colleges, schools, and administrative departments at the University regarding issues such as employee performance and conduct, performance management, and organizational planning and development. Labor Relations
Labor Relations provides timely and professional assistance to employees who manage union groups. The Labor Relations team addresses questions and concerns involving contract interpretation and administration, employee discipline, and grievances. The department encourages all managers who confront these or other union-related concerns to consult with the knowledgeable and experienced Labor Relations staff. Compensation
The Compensation team helps faculty and staff understand compensation-related definitions, practices, and legal requirements, and assists individuals in supervisory roles. For more information, view the Compensation section of this site or call 617-353-3323.
Records
The Records section stores and maintains employee records. It is also available to assist with employment verifications. Contact Records by calling 617-353-4470.
Systems
The Systems team supports all users and functions of Human Resources. They create reports and local databases and analyze data for University projects and external vendor requests. The team also manages security authorizations for the online Human Resources applications (including the turnaround and new-hire systems), coordinates efforts for maintaining accurate and consistent employee information on the Human Resources/Payroll system, manages the Human Resources website, administers the creation of University Identification numbers (UIDs), and facilitates all UID problem resolutions. Systems also provides UID and label files for mailings to Mail Services and Information Technology for University-wide mailings to employees.
