Update Employee Contact Information
Periodically, it will be necessary for you to update specific employee information on file in Human Resources. To access and update this information, go to Business Link and click on Business Link, then click on Payroll/Personnel, and finally Payroll/Personnel Update.
You also can access this information through the UIS mainframe in Galaxy via the following functions:
- HR30—Employee personal information (including home address and emergency contact)
- HR31—Employee campus address information
Once you are logged into the Business Link or Galaxy system, you can update any of the fields listed below:

Citizenship
Visa type**
Visa Expiration Date**

Home Address
Home Phone Number
Publish home address in BU Printed Directory (Y/N?)
Office Address
Office Phone Number
Office Room Number
I-9 Mail Code

** Visa information is “VIEW ONLY,” Contact Payroll to update any Visa information.
Please note that each employee needs to have a campus specified on his or her record for the office address to be verified. You can choose from the following:
- Charles River Campus (CHRV)
- Medical Campus (BUMC)
- Off Campus—for employees who have a nondeliverable Mail Services address (most of these employees are on the Medical Campus.)
For consistency purposes, the system includes a table that lists all legitimate campus addresses. If you need to enter an address that is not in the table, please contact the Charles River Human Resources office at 617-353-4466 or Medical Campus Human Resources office at 617-683-4610.
The value security parameters require your Departmental Security Administrator (DSA) to enter values for the unit/department(s), Level 2(s), employment code(s), and mail code(s) for which you are responsible via Galaxy task US50. When you receive approval for this permit, you will be able to view and update the data on the Web as well as via Galaxy.
