Changing Coverage or Stopping Coverage
Because you pay for your coverage with before-tax dollars, the provisions of Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code also govern how and when you may make changes in your Health Plan coverage. Under the current provisions of Section 125, once each year during the annual open enrollment period you may:
- Change the level of your coverage (that is, move from one of the four tiers to another)
- Enroll for coverage, or
- Cancel your coverage
You may make a change in your Health Plan coverage during a year only if you have a qualified change in your family or employment status.
