Statutory Benefits

In addition to your Boston University benefits, federal and state laws require employers to provideĀ  you with certain other benefits. These statutory benefits include Social Security, Unemployment Compensation, and Workers’ Compensation.

Boston University pays the entire cost of Unemployment Compensation and Workers’ Compensation and also contributes to the cost of your Social Security benefits. Statutory benefits may provide you and your family with financial assistance, in addition to the University-sponsored benefits, when you are injured on the job, become disabled, retire, or die.
