Basic Group Life Insurance
If you are classified by the University as a regular employee, work a full-time schedule, and have an appointment of nine months’ or more duration, you are eligible to participate in the Basic Group Life Insurance Plan on your first day of active employment. Employees whose percentage time worked decreases below the eligibility requirements for the Basic Group Life Insurance Plan as of January 1, 2015, will no longer be able to participate in the benefit plan.
The University will automatically provide you with basic life insurance equal to one times your annual base salary, rounded up to the next highest $1,000 if not already an even multiple of $1,000, to a maximum of $700,000.
For example, if your annual base salary is $29,100, your basic life insurance coverage is $30,000. If your annual base salary is exactly $29,000, your basic life insurance coverage is $29,000.
