Quality, Access, And Affordability Of Health Care
Health Information Technology and Quality of Care
Under a $33,920 supplemental grant from the Commonwealth Fund, HPRP investigators extended the analysis of the “Survey to Assess the Current State and Impact of Quality Improvement Activities in U.S. Hospitals” to address important research questions regarding the extent to which health information technologies (HIT) have been adopted by U.S. hospitals and how HIT adoption relates to the quality of hospital care. Specifically, the project was aimed toward analyzing HIT adoption in relation to: (1) the types of QI activities undertaken by hospitals; and (2) the assessments of quality managers and clinicians regarding the quality of care in their institutions. Project team members included Alan B. Cohen, Joseph D. Restuccia, and Jennifer E. Drake.
